Play nowIs Hexlands free?
Yes, completely. There is no premium version, no subscription and no in-app purchases. Hexlands is funded by ads shown outside of running games.
Do I need an account?
No. Just enter a display name and play. We store no email address and no password.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Hexlands runs directly in the browser on PC, Mac, tablet and smartphone.
How many players can play?
Two to six. The standard board is for up to 4 players, the large board for 5–6. Empty seats can be filled with bots.
Can I play alone against the computer?
Yes. “Quick Match” instantly starts a game against three bot opponents.
How do I invite friends?
Create a game and share the invite link from the lobby, e.g. via WhatsApp or Discord – or friends enter the four-character room code. Full guide.
Does Hexlands work on mobile?
Yes. The board supports pinch-zoom and every action works by touch. Tablets and laptops are a bit more comfortable.
How long does a game take?
About 45–60 minutes for the base game, longer with Knights & Barbarians or Seafarers.
What if my connection drops?
Just reopen the page. Within 10 minutes you are automatically put back into your game.
Which expansions are there?
Knights & Barbarians with city improvements and barbarian attacks, and Seafarers with ships and islands. Both can be combined.
Can I build my own maps?
Yes, the built-in map editor lets you place terrain, numbers and harbours yourself.

Is Hexlands an official product?
No. Hexlands is an independent fan project with its own artwork and code and is not affiliated with any publisher or trademark owner of well-known board games.
What data is stored?
